About Me

Hello!

I’m a mum to a lovely child and a mum-to-be to a very active baby.

After giving birth to my first child, I was honestly quite lost after my confinement nanny left as she only taught me how to take care of the newborn baby a couple of times right before she left. In our parenting journey, my husband and I had to learn on the job from online resources, parents and parents-in-law. There were many trials and errors, and thankfully enough, our baby and us survived through the first year!

When I went back to work full time as an engineer, I experienced a number of parental and work burnouts, and a series of meltdowns which I later on suspected myself to be suffering from postnatal depression which was never looked at (since we didn’t think I’d have one).

Having gone through the typical Singaporean working mum lifestyle who is trying to juggle managing the household, keeping the child well fed and thriving, being a daughter, daughter-in-law and a wife while earning income, I realised we actually need more supports in this current society to be empowered parents, to have the opportunity to take breathers when it gets challenging and a chance to be happier parents.

So, I decided to start Happy Postpartum. I hope to connect with fellow mothers (be it first time or second time mums) and support the mothers and their families so that we can have happier and healthier families.

Mental and emotional wellness in mothers and the baby’s other caregivers (could be father, grandparents etc.) are often quite overlooked. My believe is that a baby can thrive much better when they are surrounded in a human environment that’s generally happier.
